“I
am running because I want to address several critical issues in Vermont
which affect us all right here in our House district,” said Toll.
“These issues include affordable housing, energy costs, property taxes,
education, farming and agriculture. “We need a strong local
economy to create quality job opportunities that enable our children to
remain in the area and be active and successful participants in
Vermont’s future.”
Kitty Toll
grew up on a 5th generation Danville dairy farm that continues to
operate today, with her mother and father, Catherine Beattie and the
late Harold Beattie. She is a long-time member of the Danville
Congregational Church, and presently serves on the Board of Trustees
and Board of Deacons. For many years, Toll was Co-Chair of the
Danville Chamber of Commerce, and is a past member of the Danville
Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment. Toll also
served on the Board of Trustees for the Pope Memorial Library.
She is a Corporator of Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, a
volunteer on the hospital’s capital campaign and the 2008 Annual Fund
Campaign of Lyndon State College. Toll also is a long time organizer of
the Danville Community Fair.
“Community service has always been a way of life for my family, and
I’ve been fortunate to live, work and raise a family in such a unique
place as the Northeast Kingdom. I believe it is time for me to put my
experience and energies to work on issues that affect the broader
community. I am committed to developing a strong, local
economy while maintaining the character of Cabot, Danville, and
Peacham.”
Toll worked as an
elementary school teacher in Gilman, Charleston and St. Johnsbury and
